Petros Konnaris

Petros was born in Nicosia, Cyprus in 1988. He is currently enrolled in the Live Art and Performance studies MA program of Theater Academy/University of the Arts Helsinki in Helsinki/Finland.

Graduated from the Dance Department of University of Nicosia with first class standing on 2011 and is a holder of a Mathematics and Statistics degree from University of Cyprus.

On 2012 he participated in the DanceWeb Scholarship program 2012, part of the ImpulsTanz festival in Vienna, Austria having as mentors Benoît Lachambre and Robin Poitras.

The previous years Petros has collaborated with .pelma.lia.haraki, Doris Uhlich, Selas Dance Company, Asomates Dinameis, Christos Polymenakos, Christina Patsali, Arianna Marcoulides, Eleana Alexandou, Michelle Panteli, Anthi Pafiou and Christina Georgiou.

Petros performed in various  festivals and venues such as Asiatopia 2016 in Thailand, New Performance Turku festival, Summer Dance Festival in Cyprus, ImpulsTanz in Austria, Opera Estate/B-Motion in Italy, Athens Festival in Greece, Frankfurt Künstlerhaus Mousonturm and Politik im Freien Theater in Germany, MDT in Sweden, ARCA theatre in Czech Republic and Next festival in Belgium.

Petros is working between the fields of live art, performance art, participatory art, relational art and dance in the form of 1-1 and intimate performances. He is interested in creating safe spaces where people can actively explore, enjoy and appreciate their naked body. He is currently exploring nakedness in relation to playfulness, intimacy and gentleness.
